But the celebration which followed the striker’s superb solo effort is almost as famous as the goal itself. Atkinson runs to the corner with Villa teammate, Dean Saunders, jumping on his back. They were joined by a Villa fan holding his umbrella who decided to shelter Atkinson from the rain. The moment is one of the most iconic celebrations in football history. This is our tribute to 'Rainman'.

 

Dalian Atkinson had just scored a wondergoal in a 3-2 victory over Wimbledon at Selhurst Park in the 1992/93 season, but the goal is remember for the iconic celebration that followed.

Across three spells with the club he made over 500 appearances in all competitions. Cowans played a key part in Villa's success in the 70's and 80's, winning a League Cup, League Championship, European Cup and European Super Cup. He was also capped 10 times by England and scored the second in a 2-0 win over in Scots in 1983. This is our tribute to a Villa legend, and one of the clubs greatest moments.
